The Kent Institute of Medicine and Surgery (KIMS) won the award for Best Acute Hospital Development at the 2014 Building Better Healthcare Awards. The new hospital campus is designed to offer excellent conditions for clinical practice, serving the needs of the population of Kent. The buildings offer complex surgical care, day treatment and out-patient consultation for a variety of clinical specialities.

Designed to create an environment for learning, knowledge sharing, clinical education and best practice, the 15,000sqm building has 74 inpatient beds, including seven chemotherapy rooms, plus 20 day care beds, seven intensive therapy unit beds and high dependency facilities.
