It’s another Olympic year and we’re starting to get excited for Team GB as we see hints of the games now appearing more each day!

The Lee Valley Athletics Centre is currently featured in BETC’s advert for GetPRO that follows Team GB’s Zharnel Hughes on his dedicated training journey. The athlete can be seen perfecting his sprints on the indoor track at the centre as he prepares to reach his goals for this year’s Olympics in Paris.

The Lee Valley Athletics Centre, designed by David Morley Architects for the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority in 2007, was a key training facility for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Whilst primarily for the training and development of elite athletes in the UK, the facility is now also home to the renowned Enfield & Haringey Athletics Club and Better Leisure and serves the regional and local communities. By having every level of skill train in the same environment, the centre hopes to encourage and inspire participation in athletics.

Many of the team here at David Morley Architects are keen sports enthusiasts with a deep understanding of the grain of the sports and the users needs. These unique insights contribute to the successful delivery of projects such as the Lee Valley Athletics Centre. We hope that the facility will continue to thrive as an important asset to the community and support the athletes and local members with their active ambitions. As the Olympic motto says, “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together.”
