David Morley Architects’ masterplan enhances the existing ski resort with a scheme that harmoniously integrates with the natural environment. Contemporary homes are arranged along the Kurigo River and mountain slopes, following the natural contours of the landscape. The design features sinuous crescents and curved roofs that echo the flowing features of the terrain. The use of natural materials sensitively reflects the natural surroundings.
Interior spaces are designed to maximise natural light and frame picturesque views, offering a seamless connection to the outdoors. The design concept invites both residents and visitors to fully appreciate the Yonezawa landscape’s unique beauty and tranquility.

The vision is to create a vibrant destination for residents and visitors that celebrates local crafts, culture, leisure, and lifestyle. The masterplan incorporates a central plaza as a focal point, serving as a hub for a diverse range of activities, including: glamping, golf and tennis, cycling and mountain biking, and winter sports.

Phase 1 of the resort includes: houses with panoramic views of the mountains and river; hillside crescents and hilltop pods, designed to blend with the natural slopes; and a shopping village with a central street lined with commercial units for retail and gastronomy, complemented by apartments above. This initial phase establishes the foundation for a vibrant community, offering a mix of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces.
Future phases will introduce key elements to further enhance the resort’s appeal, including: a central plaza, a hotel, a shopping mall, and a driving range. These developments are envisioned to further elevate the resort as a premier destination, offering a unique experience that blends luxury, adventure, and culture.
