Over the past 20 years, David Morley Architects has worked closely with The Royal Parks charity to design a series of cafés and visitor facilities located across some of London’s most iconic parks.

These buildings sit within sensitive and historic landscapes — designed to offer moments of pause and connection to nature.

The following images feature a selection of the facilities designed by David Morley Architects for The Royal Parks.

If you’re spending time in London’s parks this weekend, take a break and enjoy the natural views at one of these thoughtfully designed cafés:

Italian Gardens Café, Kensington Gardens (completed 2016)
Nestled between the Grade II* Queen Anne’s Alcove and Marlborough Gate, this café overlooks the tranquil Italian Gardens Fountains.

The Hub Café at The Hub, Regent’s Park (completed 2005)
Set above changing rooms and at the heart of the northern parkland’s sports fields, this circular pavilion’s café offers 360° panoramic views across the park and sports pitches.

Albert Memorial Kiosk, Kensington Gardens (completed 2017)
The kiosk is a compact intervention near two Grade I listed landmarks: the Albert Memorial and Royal Albert Hall — blending seamlessly into its historic setting.

Ignatius Sancho Café, Greenwich Park (completed 2024)
A sensitive conversion of a former private lodge into a welcoming café, complete with a new kitchen garden and volunteer hub at Vanbrugh Yard.

These cafés offer places to rest, reconnect, and take in the beauty of London’s protected green spaces.

We look forward to seeing the new coffee kiosk at the top of the Grand Ascent in Greenwich Park reach completion in the next couple of months.

During these final days of summer, let us know if you find yourself in one – we’d love to hear your experience.
