David Morley Architects is proud to announce the completion of its first Passivhaus accredited project for longstanding client, Loughborough University, and will be the 8th building delivered for their campus. SportPark Pavilion 4 sets the standard for future buildings to meet NetZero and low energy consumption while delivering comfortable office space for potential clients. The practice collaborated with consultants, Beyond Carbon, and contractors, Henry Brothers, to develop SportPark 4 as a unique living lab to enhance the University’s cutting-edge building energy research and allow for detailed performance measurements to be taken over the coming years.

Widely regarded as the most challenging energy efficiency and comfort standards in the world, the Passivhaus standard allows occupants to reduce their carbon footprint with the use of triple glazed windows,  enhanced thermal efficient airtight building fabric, external solar shading and a highly efficient heat and ventilation system.

The project has supported more than 410 jobs within the construction phase alone and brought additional sports-related organisations to the region.
