The Hurlingham Club Gym Extension

David Morley Architects were appointed to undertake a masterplan of the Hurlingham Club sports facilities in 2010. One of the key priorities was an extension to the Club’s gymnasium to provide additional capacity to this much loved facility.

The gymnasium is located within the curtilage of the Grade II* listed Hurlingham House, in a constrained location flanking both the Oval Courtyard and Four in Hand Yard. A feasibility study was undertaken to evaluate the most appropriate way to maximise floor area in this sensitive location, involving close consultation with Engligh Heritage. The preferred scheme infilled an area of unused roof space to create a new purpose built facility for suspension and circuit training.
