Sixth Form Centre
Abingdon School is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys set within an impressive parkland campus, featuring historic buildings and landscape. The school is one of the oldest schools in England, with references to the school dating back as far as 1100.
Working closely with the school, David Morley Architects have designed a dynamic eye-catching building housing a new Sixth Form Centre, Library and the school’s Art Department, that delivers a functional and efficient, easy to maintain building within a modest budget all under one roof. The brief and the site offered an opportunity to create a building that echoes the quality and breadth of an Abingdon School education, marrying tradition with a modern outlook in a building that fits comfortably into its unique site.
David Morley Architects continue to enjoy working with the school having just been awarded another phase, for the new Faringdon Lodge, an extension of the Yang Science Centre, and are also currently working on early designs for a pair of new boarding houses.
