Qualifications:

Alastair is a Senior Architect (BA Manchester & DipArch Oxford Brookes) with an MSc in Environmental Design and Engineering from the Bartlett (UCL). He has experience in architectural practice and the building industry in the UK and USA.

Alastair is passionate to enhance lives by design with key interests in the promotion of wellness and the use of low-carbon design. He is a member of the practice sustainability steering group and has worked on multiple BREEAM projects including the first domestic refurbishment to achieve a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ in the UK. He is also part of an office movement focused to reduce sedentary working, promoting bursts of activity through the day and has more recently been experimenting with standing desks and walking meetings.

Since joining David Morley Architects in 2010, Alastair has worked on a broad range of projects. This has included projects across the Sport, Education and Residential sectors. He worked on numerous University projects including the £40m David Ross Sport Village at Nottingham University which incorporated a huge range of sports facilities. Other University projects have included Educational facilities and several student housing schemes. Most recently he worked on the Claudia Parsons Halls and Elite Athlete Centre and Hotel at Loughborough University which provided accommodation for Students and Elite Athletes set within a landscape specifically designed to promote activeness.

Alastair is a keen cyclist and recently completed Jon o’ Groats to Land’s End with his training for the most part captured on his 30+ mile commute to the office, often taking in scenic detours! On completion of the Claudia Parsons Hall he organised a 200km ride with the project team from Loughborough in London to Loughborough in Loughborough to celebrate the opening. He is always looking for the next cycling adventure.
