The Plimsoll Building Commended at NLA 2016 Awards

The Plimsoll Building was commended at the New London 2016 Awards mixed-use category. The awards recognise the very best in architecture, planning and development in the capital, including both new and proposed projects across all sectors of the built environment, selected by an international expert jury.

From a shortlist of 136 projects, 26 category winners were honoured across all sectors of London’s built environment, ranging from Housing to Offices, Education to Transport & Infrastructure, and Public Spaces to Masterplans & Area Strategies.

The Plimsoll Building has played a vital part in establishing the Gasholder Park residential neighbourhood, in the heritage heart of King's Cross. Its two schools bring an amenity for local families, and create daily footfall in the area, as well as the sense that it is now a 'real' place.

The 14 storey building provides 178 open market apartments and 77 key worker apartments located above the King’s Cross Academy, a two form entry primary school, Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children, a nursery and community facilities.

The commendation follows The Plimsoll Building winning the best housing category in New London 2014 awards.
